While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Five Nights at Freddy’s certainly has gone viral since its original release almost 2 years ago. Since then we’ve got 3 sequels, and an official spin-off game FNAF World. While the latter game was pulled from Steam for its premature, and rather poor quality release, the series is perhaps one of the most famous indie titles out there.

Fazbear Nightmare promises to be a free fan-made game that tries to live up to the quality of the four main Five Nights at Freddy’s entries. While the exact details of the game are about as dark as the corridors of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, the game’s official Steam Greenlight page has made the following details clear:

The mod requires FNAF 4 to play This product is a mod PC only, with Linux and Mac compatibility planned for the future A four-part series that explores the outside forces involved in the Fazbear incidents, each with unique gameplay and stories unrelated to the main FNAF series New areas, mechanics, engine, and story Ability to leave the guard’s chair Same old Freddy

The quality of the main Five Nights at Freddy’s games are inconsistent at best, with some games being better than others, and some being more frustrating than anything else. As such, a fan game doesn’t exactly seem promising per se. It’s not like we needed anymore Freddy after FNAF World’s failed launch.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem like Freddy and Co. are going anywhere anytime soon. There’s still a FNAF movie planned, and talks of novels too. For what it’s worth, Scott Cawthon has certainly achieved what aspiring writers and game developers can only dream of. To have such a dedicated fanbase, and a growing community like this is truly a blessing.

Let’s just hope that both Scott and his series can slow down before it drags out a little too long…
