Lunumbra has applied a similar method of expanding artworks to a number of Pokemon cards, and the results are simply astounding.

You wouldn’t know by looking at the original cards, but Leafeon and Glaceon’s cards are actually part of one giant piece of art. This is actually a common trend among Pokemon cards.
Ditto goes for Magikarp and Gyarados. This pair really highlights the difference between the two Pokemon, doesn’t it?
The only downside to these expanded art cards is that the only way to preserve the text (and utility of the cards, I suppose) is to leave some space between the card text and the artwork. Still, they look great.
Lunumbra also does expanded arts for standalone cards. In the case of this Light Jolteon card, it certainly makes the card’s artwork look more at peace - as if the original didn’t already!
